ADVANCED VEHICLE TRACKING
Karomed teamed up with Ctrack to install an advanced vehicle tracking solution across 30 vans within its fleet. The company selected Ctrack Online, a true zero footprint, web-based tracking system combined with Ctrack cCom in-vehicle consoles as part of its commitment to reducing carbon footprint, enhancing health and safety and boosting overall fleet performance.

By tracking the vans, operated by the company’s nationwide network of engineers, Karomed has been able to achieve a range of benefits including:

• Reduced fuel consumption of more than 10 per cent
• Minimised environmental impact of van fleet operation
• Enhanced work flow management and job allocation
• Improved customer communications and response times

VISIBILITY AND CONTROL
Karomed has used the tracking solution to provide added visibility and control over its nationwide network of engineers that operate from three regional service centres within the UK. As a result, the company has been able to better manage its field-based operation by knowing the exact location and status of employees and vehicles in real-time.

DRIVER DISPATCH
Karomed is able to identify the nearest vehicle to a job, based on the necessary skill set, and despatch the appropriate engineer. New tasks are allocated via the integrated Ctrack cCom in-vehicle console, which automatically navigates the engineer to the job and provides two-way communication with the office. This has enabled Karomed to reduce vehicle mileage, improve response times and provide accurate status updates to customers.

RESPONSIBLE DRIVING
Karomed has used Ctrack Online to monitor driver behaviour to identify areas of improvement and support the company’s internal environmental and duty of care initiatives. The system’s real-time and historical reporting capability has enabled Karomed to identify where speeding, excessive braking, harsh acceleration and heavy cornering is occurring within the fleet operation, and work with field-based engineers to encourage responsible driving in terms of safety and fuel efficiency.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
By increasing employee productivity, reducing mileage and improving driver behaviour, Karomed has used the vehicle tracking to help monitor and reduce the company’s carbon footprint. As a result, Karomed has been able to lower fuel consumption by more than 10 per cent across its fleet operation and target longer-term savings of up to 15 per cent.
